Rava Idly recipe


There are different types of idly and rava idly is one among them. It is very famous in Karnataka and is very delicious if prepared in the right way. In any Indian hotel, rava idly is served with different types of chutneys and parupu podi. This is one of the popular tiffen items that is served as part of Indian food.

Ingredients:

1 cup wheat sooji/rava
1/2 tea spn mustard seeds
1/2 tea spn grated and crushed ginger (optional)
2-3 finely chopped green chilies
1 tea spn channa daal (can also add urad dal if you wish)
1/4 tea spn baking soda
3/4 cup grated carrot
1 tbl spn cashews ( you can also use any other type of nuts)
2-3 strands of coriander leaves
2 tbl spn grated coconut(fresh or frozen)
1 cup yogurt/curd
1-2 tbl spn ghee
Salt

Method:

Heat oil and add mustard seeds. When the seeds start to pop, add ginger, green chilies, chana daal and fry for sometime. Switch off the heat and immediately add sooji, mix well.

Add salt, soda, carrot, cashew, coriander leaves, coconut, yogurt/curd and mix well. Leave it for around 30mins.

Grease the idli stand with ghee.Put the mixture on top. Steam for around 10-12 mins.
Serve hot by coating the idlies with ghee.


You can also make this by using MTR rava idly mix, but preparing from scratch gives you the satisfaction, doesn't it?
